Save an interaction, study a moment, and explain why it matters.

Motion in your feed

Motion references sit alongside screenshots in Discover. Use All, Screenshots, or Motion to narrow the references on screen. Short previews loop silently as they come into view; offscreen previews pause. Pause motion stops automatic playback. Reduced-motion and data-saving preferences show a still cover instead.

On desktop, the reference stays in a fixed three-column view: creator and details on the left, the recording in the center, and Discussion or Annotations on the right. Sidebars scroll independently. Related references open from the details sidebar. Open a clip to watch a silent loop. The timeline lets you scrub or drag across a range to annotate. If you are signed out, a Motion preview carousel explains that an account is needed to view Motion items. Create an account or sign in with an available Google, Apple, or email option. Taste returns you to the clip after authentication.

Upload a recording

Choose images and videos together in the upload window. Phone recordings, desktop interfaces, websites, and cropped details are welcome. You do not need an iPhone-shaped recording.

Accepted files are MP4, MOV, and WebM up to 100 MB. The source can be up to two minutes; select a finished clip between 1 and 30 seconds. Taste preserves the proportions, removes audio, and prepares a smaller preview and a full playback version.

Web uploads default to Public. You can switch individual uploads to Private. Public videos appear in Discover after processing and saving, without a manual approval step. Team Taste identifies the team uploader, while the source field credits the original product.

Choose Inspiration or Portfolio, select your images and recordings together, and continue to prepare the upload. Recordings preview automatically; choose Edit clip to adjust the trim.
Drag the filmstrip edges to trim, scrub to a frame, then choose Use current frame as cover.
Give the video a descriptive name. Optionally link the original app or website, add a note about what caught your eye, and add tags to help you find it later. Check the platform and whether the work is shipped or a concept.
Check the recording for personal information. By uploading, you confirm you have permission to share it and it contains no personal information.
Choose collections or a portfolio project, review the displayed extraction cost, then upload. Design tokens are extracted automatically. Review the results and save.

Annotate a moment or range

Choose Annotate at a moment, or drag across the timeline to select a range. Add your observation in the Annotations tab and optionally tap the video to pin a position. Save annotation records the selected moment or range.

Choose an annotation on the timeline or its time in the list to return to the moment or loop its range. Annotations belong to your account; the Only you label identifies their audience. They are separate from public comments and from notes shared inside a collection. A note stays attached to the recording version it was created on.

At 1.24s, the panel settles while the background remains still. Keep that sense of focus, but use our components and respect reduced motion.

Discuss a moment

Use Discussion to talk with other viewers. Attach a moment adds the current timestamp; open Adjust timing to choose an interval. Selecting its time seeks to that moment or loops the range.

Comment visibility follows the reference’s existing permissions. Never put private feedback in a public reference’s comments. Collection discussions retain their own audience; adding a private note does not post a comment.

Automatic design analysis

Web uploads include automatic design analysis, with the credit cost shown before upload. Watching, annotating, and reading a cached result do not consume analysis credits. Viewing Understand this interaction and downloading videos are Pro features. The interaction breakdown starts collapsed. Download opens an in-place Pro offer for free viewers and saves the processed MP4 for Pro viewers. Taste returns analysis credits if extraction fails.

Video extraction samples up to 12 frames from the trimmed clip. Results contain a summary, visual tokens (such as observed colors and layout characteristics), timestamped observations with confidence, and implementation suggestions. Static image extraction describes one image; video observations describe evidence across sampled moments. It does not recover the original source code, exact fonts, easing curves, or physics. Use the video and your own notes to check its interpretation.

Free accounts have a smaller monthly upload allowance; Pro includes more uploads and analysis credits. If you reach your allowance, Taste offers plan options at that action. Review the displayed trial length, renewal price, and monthly or annual billing before continuing. Payment methods depend on your device and checkout availability.

A temporary processing pause is a service-capacity issue. Upgrading does not bypass it.

How Taste MCP uses Motion

Use with Taste MCP opens a reference-specific handoff. Copy the suggested prompt into your coding tool, or use Connect Taste MCP to open the existing setup flow. This does not automatically start a task or install a connection. A personal Taste connection can return your saved-design annotations. When Motion support is enabled on the connected server, notes include a timestamp in milliseconds and a recording version, with optional normalized pin coordinates.

Extracted visual tokens and a motion summary are stored with the saved reference and can travel through full-token MCP responses. Dedicated playback/frame tools and paid video-analysis actions are not yet exposed through Taste MCP. Range ends are not yet part of the deployed annotation contract. Timestamped note support does not mean the agent can watch the recording. Ask the agent to preserve the note’s scope and explain whether it has actually seen the relevant frames. A cover image is not evidence of the whole interaction. Reading annotations does not trigger paid video analysis.

If a clip is unavailable

Images and videos share the same web flow: choose files, prepare details, upload and extract, review, then save. Video processing also prepares playback and samples frames for analysis. Keep the upload window open while transferring and processing files. A temporary connection failure can be retried with Resume upload while that window remains open. If you close or reload the window, choose the file again.

During processing, Notify me when ready optionally requests browser notification permission for this batch. Keep Taste open and your device awake; you may switch tabs. The notification means the batch is ready for review, not that it has been finally saved. Failed items produce a needs-attention notification. This is an open-tab notification, not a server push that is guaranteed after closing the tab. A clip can remain unavailable while processing, after its owner changes access, or during a service-capacity pause. Your text notes remain available in your account. If processing fails, try a fresh export within the supported limits.
