Give the agent something concrete to work with
Connecting Taste lets an authorized AI tool request your Taste context. Depending on the connected server’s capabilities, that can include your profile, samples, collections, annotations, and shared interview insights. MCP is the connection; your library is the useful part.
Choose your tool
Complete setup and Taste authorization in each client you use. A local skill file is not proof of a live connection.
Verify with real account context
Ask the client to list your collections and their item counts. Check that it found a real collection you recognize. An empty library can validly return zero collections; a missing tool or an authentication error is different.

Ask the agent to inspect the project, find the relevant collection, read the annotations, and look at the images. Then ask it to describe the direction before implementing. Keep your existing tokens, components, accessibility requirements, and current task instructions explicit.

Know what can vary
Clients differ in remote MCP authentication, image rendering, tool discovery, and embedded previews. A client may receive an image URL without displaying or inspecting that image. Ask it to report whether it actually viewed the references.
Other clients need support for Taste’s remote Streamable HTTP connection and its OAuth flow. “Supports MCP” alone does not establish compatibility. ChatGPT web uses its own app connection, separate from local Codex configuration. Available custom connections may depend on account or workspace settings.
For the curious: capabilities
If available, ask the agent to use get_taste_capabilities to report the server version, connection type, tool families, and account limits. Let the client discover its live tools instead of assuming a tool exists because a guide mentions it. Generating a fresh collection brief can consume a credit.
