Privacy Policy

This policy explains how uploads support AI development, including model training and commercial licensing through AI development partnerships, and the choices you have about those uses.

This Privacy Policy describes how Infinite Idea Machine, Inc. (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of the Taste website at buildwithtaste.com, the Taste macOS application, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password (stored as a salted hash).
• Profile information. You may optionally provide a display name, bio, avatar image, social links (X, Threads, Instagram, personal website), and hiring-related details such as availability, title, location, languages, skills, and specialties.
• User content. Screenshots you capture or upload (“Samples”), notes, tags, and any portfolio items you publish through the Service.
• Communications. If you contact us via email or other channels, we retain the contents of those communications.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data. We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages viewed, features used, design ratings, and navigation patterns.
• Device and browser data. We may collect your browser type, operating system, device identifiers, IP address, and general location (city/region level) derived from IP.
• Cookies and local storage. We use essential cookies for authentication sessions and local/session storage for navigation state (e.g., referral attribution).

1.3 Information Derived from Your Content

When you capture or upload screenshots, we use AI-based processing (including third-party AI models) to extract structured design attributes such as colors, typography, spacing, and layout patterns (“Design Tokens”). These tokens, along with a synthesized taste profile, are stored as part of your account data.

2. AI Model Training

We may use all User Content uploaded, posted, or transmitted through the Service, whether public or private, to develop, train, fine-tune, test, evaluate, and improve our artificial intelligence and machine learning models and related products and services. This includes screenshots, samples, images, text, notes, tags, portfolio items, and design attributes and other data derived from that content. We may carry out this work ourselves or through service providers acting on our behalf. A private visibility setting controls public display; it does not exclude an upload from these uses.

We may also sell or license uploads and derived data to third parties for their own AI development and other commercial purposes, as described in Section 4. These uses are subject to applicable law, any legally required consent, and your privacy rights.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Develop, train, fine-tune, test, and evaluate AI and machine learning models using uploads and derived data as described in Section 2.
• Create and commercialize datasets by selling or licensing uploads and derived data as described in Section 4.
• Process your screenshots and generate design tokens and taste profiles.
• Enable social features such as public profiles, discovery feeds, follows, saves, and the designer hiring directory.
• Send transactional emails (e.g., password resets, account notifications).
• Send product updates, social notifications, and marketing communications where you have opted in or where permitted by law. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions through our billing provider.
• Analyze usage trends and product performance to improve the Service.
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse.
• Comply with legal obligations.

Through AI development partnerships, we may license uploads and derived data to other companies for AI training and product development. These commercial arrangements may involve sales or paid licenses and may include personal information contained in uploads. You can manage participation in Your Privacy Choices. We disclose information in the following circumstances, subject to applicable law, required consent, and the rights and choices described below:

• Public content. Samples, profile information, portfolio items, and taste profiles you mark as public are visible to other users and may be indexed by search engines.
• Service providers. We share data with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including AI processing and the model development and training described in Section 2. These providers may process uploads for those purposes on our behalf; this policy does not authorize them to use uploads to train their own models for their independent purposes. Providers include:
  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery.
  • OpenAI — AI processing of screenshots to extract design tokens.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and subscription management.
• AI development partners. We may sell, license, or otherwise provide public and private uploads and derived data, including screenshots, images, text, notes, tags, portfolio items, and extracted design attributes, to AI developers, data companies, and other businesses. Recipients may use these materials for their own model development, training, fine-tuning, testing, evaluation, research, and commercial products and services. These transfers may constitute a sale of personal information under applicable privacy law when the materials contain personal information. Private visibility does not exclude an upload from these transfers, subject to applicable law and your privacy rights.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
• Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or fraud prevention purposes.

Deleting your content or account stops our inclusion of the deleted content in future training datasets and new data sales or licenses. It does not automatically undo training already lawfully completed or prior transfers and licenses. We and recipients may continue to use resulting models and previously licensed materials only to the extent permitted by applicable law. This does not limit your personal data rights or our or recipients’ obligations, including any duty to pass deletion requests to recipients.

6. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), secure password hashing, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and correction. You can access and update your profile information through your account settings at any time.
• Deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at alex@infiniteim.com.
• AI development partnerships. Turn off AI development partnerships in Your Privacy Choices to exclude your uploads and derived data from future partnership sales and licensing. Signed-in choices apply across your account; signed-out choices are stored in your browser and applied to your account when you sign in from that browser. This setting does not change Taste’s own AI processing or training. You may also contact us at alex@infiniteim.com. We honor Global Privacy Control as an opt-out of partnership sales and licensing. An opt-out does not automatically undo prior transfers or completed training, subject to your legal rights.
• Training and privacy requests. To withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or to exercise any applicable right to object to or restrict processing of your personal information, contact us at alex@infiniteim.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing lawfully completed before withdrawal.
• Marketing opt-out. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in any such email or by contacting us.
• Data portability. You may request a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect and how it is used; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and (d) not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. 9. International Data Transfers

The Service is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page, update the “Last updated” date above, and provide notice via email or an in-app notification before the changes apply to existing users. We will obtain affirmative consent where required by law.

Design feedback from your AI tools

When you correct or approve a design that a connected AI tool made with Taste, the tool may offer, once per conversation, to save it. Taste stores feedback only after you confirm, or when you add it on Taste yourself. We store your statement, whether it applies generally or to one project, what kind of feedback it is, minimal context, confirmation information, and which Taste request it was about: the tool, the time, and the references and profile version that request returned. We do not collect your full conversation.

General feedback personalizes your own Taste profile. Your connected tools receive it with your profile right away, and later profile updates take it into account, which includes sending it to the AI provider that writes your profile. Feedback saved before October 5, 2026 is used for your profile only if you turn it on. Saving feedback does not authorize an export of your preferences to a third-party dataset.

You can review feedback, keep any entry out of your profile, delete entries, or turn off saving on the Agent activity page, or by asking your AI tool. Turning saving off preserves existing entries until you delete them or your account. Taste also keeps a log of the requests your tools make, which you can review on the same page. Feedback event analytics record actions such as saving or deleting, without the statement or project context. Database backups remain subject to the retention practices described in this policy.
